Reclaiming, Reinventing……

Hello dear sweet yogis and yoginis! (and nope, you don’t need to do an asana practice to call yourself that- cause truly we are all yogis and yoginis…..but that’s a post for another day). The first post on a new blog….GULP, always super hard. Hmmmm- what should you expect from this blog? Im kinda over  people  processing EVERYTHING emotional in their lives (yup- people life is hard sometimes)ad nauseum- and that includes me! So This blog is going to be about our relationship to our WESTERN bodies, how we are asked to move them, view them, understand them and love them. Specifically how we are asked to do all of this in the yoga world. Yoga is at a crossroads right now….either move forward and evolve, or stay rooted in the past and become obsolete. Maybe- just maybe, it is time that all yogis and yoginis  (remember that’s all of us:) Stand up and say, “I AM GOING TO MAKE YOGA WORK FOR ME!” Because at the end of the day- all of us want to feel good…..not good because a magazine or yoga teacher helped us get there, but because we just know that we are pretty amazing just the way we are.  How do we make yoga work for us? We RECLAIM our rights to it. It does not belong to Yoga Journal, or big sports clubs, or even the yoga gurus. It does not belong to them   because it is in all of us. WE are yoga. So this blog is for all of us….to help us remember that there is no one way to move a body. That doing full wheel does not mean that you are superior (hell- you never have to do full wheel in your life….if it feels crappy in your body). That our bodies are OURS….and really as long as our bodies lift us up and bring us joy, they will allow us to celebrate and love. So this blog will be a  reclaiming of our bodies, an exploration of what it means to move, feel safe and strong, and held up in that knowledge…so we remember what it means to be  fully integrated- mind, body and spirit. I look forward to taking this journey with you!

Let me hear from you…what would you like to see addressed in this blog?
